The Envision Cycle Challenge 2022

Thursday 22 – Sunday 25 September 2022

Are you up for the challenge?!

2022 will be the fifth year of this popular cycling event, and we have a new organising committee who have kindly taken on the baton from our chair Simon Lough! The dream team organisers are: Andrew Bacon, Emily Bacon, Clive Meek and Rob Toguri.

The aim of this year’s Envision Cycle Challenge is for riders to get fit, take on a personal challenge, make friends and have fun - and in the process raise money for Envision.

Last year the ride went from Buxton in the Peak District to London, meeting the Envision team from the Birmingham and Bristol offices along the way. You can get a sense of the ride from last year’s ride video here.

This year we will again do a 3-day bike ride but will be taking on a new route, from Bristol through the beautiful Mendips, down to the south coast (with a potential and optional sea swim!) and finishing in Guildford. This route has been designed by our route expert Clive to keep the popular feature of meeting the Envision team in Bristol and at the finish line whilst also taking advantage of the stunning cycling in the Mendips and along the South Coast.

“This for me was the best of humankind coming together to make something amazing happen. The team spirit was phenomenal, the attention to detail of the envision team in the organising was awesome and I felt very privileged to be part of it.”

As a small, supportive group we have a great mix of young and old, male and female, experienced cyclists and relative beginners. We welcome experienced cyclists, but for many of the participants this ride is the first serious cycling endurance challenge they have done.

“I think the Envision team gave us an extraordinary few days. We were challenged and inspired on many levels, but the work and people associated with Envision probably got us all thinking in some way. We also enjoyed getting to know each other and I for one have left with thoughts and ideas from ‘on the bike’ conversations. You have enriched our lives too and I think we have been lucky to have been part of this wonderful journey.”

In each of the previous 4 years we have raised over £100,000! This has allowed us to give over 200 young people the opportunity to do the potentially life-changing Community-Apprentice programme. We would love to get close to this in 2022, particularly as the effects of Covid had widened the gap for young people and Envision’s work has never been more important.
