Can you help a young person reflect on their learning?

Help us provide a reference for our Community Apprentices'

Young people across Bristol, Birmingham and London have designed social action projects to combat issues that they are passionate about, from mental health to the education gap. Their approach has been creative, varied and impactful.

These students are not only improving their cities, but also their future prospects by developing the skills that they’ll need to succeed.

We want to ensure young people are able to reflect on their achievements over the year and have a record of the new skills they have developed: this is where you come in....

THE PART YOU CAN PLAY

We’re looking for volunteer Business Mentors to give young people a portfolio of their skills – a Competency Reference.
This will take place as follows:

• a briefing over video call or email with an Envision member of staff
• an informal video call with 2 young people, supervised by an Envisionstaff member
• a write up of the call into four short paragraphs (one for each of the skills demonstrated)

A FEW FAQ's

What sort of commitment do I need to make?

This is a one-off volunteering opportunity and will take around two hours (a briefing, time to chat to the young people and 30 minutes for the write up).

Do I need to have relevant experience?

No - we will give you all the information you need to feel confident with the young person/people you’re paired with. There will also be an Envision member of staff involved to facilitate the call. All you need is a laptop with working camera and microphone!

Does it matter what my job is?

No- Whether you’re a recent graduate or a senior member of staff, all are welcome!

When and where is it?

You will be given a time slot falling between the w/c 27th April to the beginning of May
All from the safety of your own home!

It was very nice talking and reflecting on our Envision journey so far’ Envision student

I really looked forward to today, it was great to chat to the young people and they’re honestly so great at self-reflection, you’ve clearly taught them well. I want to start using what Envision does with my clients!’  Atkins Mentor
