Our Traineeship Programme

Niamh joined Envision as one of our Key Stage 4 Coaches through our traineeship programme. Here’s her take on the role and why you should apply:

Working with 14-year-olds in inner-city schools means that no two days are ever the same (or even remotely similar for that matter). You can walk into a school with a session plan, and it can go out the window in a matter of minutes. The age-group you’ll be working with will test you in ways you didn’t even know were possible. But stick with it and the rewards will be plentiful, and you will find yourself constantly inspired and motivated by your young people.

Envision Coaches (EC’s) are responsible for running the Key Stage 4 Community- Apprentice programme in five different schools. It is your job to inspire and empower the young people to become change-makers, whilst helping them develop key employability skills. This starts with the launch event, continues through the weekly sessions and ends with the Pitching Challenge.

But don’t worry, you won’t be thrown straight into the deep end! Before you start your role, you will have three weeks of training, with both the national and regional teams. On-going training and support are provided, with great opportunities for progression and professional development. There is always opportunity to take on more responsibilities from event planning to stakeholder management and communications - being an Envision Coach is a fantastic learning opportunity!

As frontline delivery, you are given real responsibility and the success of the programme is up to you - the more you put in, the more you will get out. Whilst this may seem daunting, and in all honesty it can be a little challenging at times, it makes it even more worthwhile and rewarding

There are no words that can describe the feeling of standing up at the final Pitching Challenge, beaming with pride at what your young people have achieved. When they are all cheering and screaming the roof off, supporting and celebrating each other or when you see individuals overcome a fear and achieve their goals. At Envision it is our job to inspire the next generation, but in moments like this you truly understand that it is their drive and energy that constantly inspires you.

Envision has given me the opportunity to work for a cause that I am extremely passionate about, and I feel lucky to work for an organisation where everyone cares so much about the work we do and the difference we make. The rewards are priceless and knowing that I have made a difference to the lives of our young people is truly overwhelming.
