Why Support Envision…?
Theo was 17 when Envision came to his school in Hackney, East London. He had never even heard of volunteering: "Until then I didn’t have much of a life, just school and home."
Together with a local volunteer called Dave, we worked with Theo and his group for 10 months. Group discussions and debates helped the group develop a project to restore disused areas of Finsbury Park. "People had all been waiting for somebody else to do something about it, so we decided to actually take action."
It made such a difference to his life, Theo gained newfound confidence to give back as a team mentor for new teams of young people in Hackney.
"Before Envision I was completely ignorant towards the world around me. I became much more interested in environmental issues, sustainable buildings and architecture." As a result, Theo has since secured a university place studying architecture.
