Democracy and Participation

Democracy

Having your voice heard in a democracy is considered a fundamental right for citizens. In many countries this is denied and those who try are persecuted and detained.

At the same time in this country more people are likely to vote for contestants in a reality TV show than for our politicians. The big charity organisations like Oxfam all say that one of the most important parts of making the world better is being active citizens and taking an interest in the way your country acts.

Envision students exemplify this through engagement with their MPs and petitioning the government but possibly most importantly by proving to their communities that being involved can be fun and that young people can lead the way..
