Envision Birmingham Kicks Off
Two Hundred and twenty young people from Birmingham sixth form schools and colleges descended upon Villa Park on Thursday 13th November 2008 to learn how they can make a difference in their local communities and to challenge the stereotype that young people are not interested in their communities and the world around them.
The young people, all aged 16-19 years, participated in interactive workshops delivered by experts from various fields including homelessness, fair-trade, climate change, crime & gangs and engaging with decision makers. The sessions were designed to raise their understanding of the issues and inspire them to implement their own community and global projects. The young people also took part in workshops such as music production, presentation skills, events planning and campaign techniques to build on their skills.
One student noted “without events like this my view and knowledge of the world would be narrow; I now know more about the world and how I can make a difference.”
