Ofsted report calls for more support for providers
Envision received support from Ofsted in its latest report Choosing to Volunteer which examines the impact of participation in volunteering activities in schools.
The report, which features Envision as a case study, found that participation in volunteering activities not only supported young people’s learning and development but also provided a means by which they could engage constructively in civil society.
Envision was highlighted in the report for it's supportive approach to engaging young people in social action. According to Ofsted's findings the most effective models of engagement used creative ways of intergrating volunteering within courses or inhouse projects enabling young people to take on greater levels of responsibility.
The report concluded with a recommendation to the Cabinet Office together with the Department for Education to “review the support provided to national charities to enable them to maintain their work with schools and other providers in developing young people’s civic engagement.”
