Baverstock's Big Clean Up

The Envision team from Baverstock School put their Pitch for Change money to good use this week holding a ‘Big Clean-Up’ community event.
The team’s project focused on their local environment and tackling negative stereotypes around young people. They wanted to showcase young people in their community doing a good thing and to encourage a sense of shared responsibility for their local environment.
Their ‘Big Clean-Up’ event took place on the 8th of May; thirty five students, teachers and other people from the local area came together to collect no less than sixty bags of rubbish. The school is now considering making the clean-up an annual event.
The team gained support from Jackie Ridge, one of the panel members they presented to at December's Pitch 4Change. Her company, Preston’s UK, donated gloves, high-viz jackets and rubbish bags for the event.
Team member Dale explained ‘I really enjoyed working with friends, family, community members, students and teachers to help make a difference.’
Team member Charlotte stated ‘The young children who took part in the event really enjoyed it and wished the clean-up was done more often.’
