Enfield County Stop the Traffik!

Sl375108

The Anti-Trafficking team at Enfield County School came up with an eyecatching way to raise awareness of their issue: spending a whole day handcuffed together! Team member Jessica tells us more...

“We arrived at school at eight to rehearse and set up our assembly. We gave our assembly to the entire upper school, years 10-13 and some teachers. It went quite well despite one technical hitch which I fixed luckily. There was a slideshow of pictures to music and another more informative powerpoint. During our assembly we wore our handcuffs.

For the rest of the day we were handcuffed in pairs, about eight of us in total, only taking them off when we needed to go to the toilet! We gave up our breaks and lunchtime to go around to different classrooms and ask people to sign the Stop The Traffik Global declaration and tell them more about human trafficking.

It was a quite interesting experience, especially doing a chemistry experiment handcuffed, and being constantly asked: What if you want to go to toilet and you're handcuffed?"
