Who we're working with
With over 8 million living in the Capital and still growing you could be forgiven for thinking there’s not much space left for community living, but you couldn’t be more wrong.
We’re proud to be Londoners but we’re just as proud (if not more so) of our local areas. It’s in the boroughs that you’ll see real community spirit in action and it’s the boroughs that are the building blocks for creating a cohesive and sustainable London.
We’re experts in inspiring and enabling action, but can’t possibly be an expert in every social issue. That’s why we work with other specialists. In London we work with around 100 charities each year all of which want to engage young people in their work and help us to inspire them about specific issues. We’ve worked with organisations such as WaterAid, Otesha, Beatbullying and UK Youth Climate Coalition helping us bring issues to life in a tangible way and enabling young people to really see the impact of their support here in London.
Building business connections
We’re also working with the business community to harness their expertise and offer them an engaging volunteer experience alongside the young people. Our Young Leaders programme programme uses social action to enable young people to develop and demonstrate skills that will be invaluable for employability.
For some companies, such as John Laing, we’re providing an opportunity for them to extend an existing community partnership with a local school enabling them to make an even bigger impact.
Targeting special needs
We’re delighted to have the support of a range of livery companies to target some of the more disadvantaged communities and young people. For example, this year we are working with 50 young people with special educational needs to enable them to make a positive contribution to their communities. You can read more about how we’ve tailored our programmes to target specific needs in our Programme Case Studies.
