Envision and the Wilderness Foundation partner up for Sirius 2010/11

The Envision Grad Programme and The Wilderness Foundation have announced that they are once again partnering up for the Sirius Programme 2010/11!

The Sirius Scholarship Programme offers aspiring leaders aged 18-30 a rare opportunity to be part of a truly wild experience in Scotland.  Trailists live simply, travelling on foot or by canoe, have an almost non-existent carbon footprint and explore man’s impact on the environment, together with the new and positive action we can take to protect the Earth.

Envision Grads have been taking part in this transformational programme for the past 10 years, heading out on adventures to South Africa, Wales, and more recently Scotland.  This year is no exception, with the Wilderness Foundation UK again inviting Envision Grads to apply for a place on the Programme, to further develop their learning, leadership and life experience.

Envision Grad Mita Desai participated in Sirius last year and said of the Programme,“If I had to summarize my experience I would call it a beautiful enlightenment. I think before the trip to Scotland I was interested in environmental issues because I was aware of the consequences to what humans were doing to the world we live in. However now I feel more passionate and I feel I want to campaign for the world we live in today as I can appreciate it more. I feel so lucky to have gone on this trip because I was able to share these experiences and thoughts with such amazing people; my wilderness family.”

The Wilderness Foundation CEO Jo Roberts said, “We have a long history working with Envision and love working with the Grad Programme as everyone is so switched on, alive and ready to make a difference. Sirius gives new insights and skills, and embeds the experience in practical outcomes that make positive impacts on people and our wonderful planet easier to achieve.”

If you’re aged 18-30, you can apply now for the October and April programmes!   The deadlines are September 20th 2010 and 31st January 2011 respectively.
