The Kick Off 2010
Over two hundred Envision students showed how energetic, enthusiastic and passionate they were at Birmingham’s ‘Kick Off’ at Villa Park on Thursday 11th November.
The afternoon was jam packed with different activities. Birmingham students wrote and recorded their own lyrics and showed us their best moves in an Urban Dance workshop, (definitely as entertaining TruStreet’s amazing lunchtime performance!)
Envision students also got a chance to learn about loads of different issues, from Refugees to Youth Violence. Some students are already using what they learnt in their weekly Envision projects! A special congratulation goes to Stephanie from Archbishop Ilsely Catholic College, the winner of the Envision quiz and prize!
Envision students also got to show local business leaders, the media and councillors the Truth about Youth in a debate on the ‘Big Society’. The debate gave our students the chance to have their say about an important issue and they impressed all the special guests and VIPs.
Kashif, 18 who attended the debate said, “I feel that in recent times there has been a barrier between young people and the rest of society and events like the Kick Off debate allow young people and adults to engage with each other; young people showing that they are not a hindrance to society and companies like the Co-operative and Councillors showing they do value young people.”
It was a fantastic event that showed everyone how great Birmingham’s Envision students are and it’s got us all very excited about how much they can and will do in their projects!
