The Leeds Big Boom

Fri 12 Nov 2010

On Friday the 12th of November, over 120 young people from across Leeds descended on The Courtyard in Millennium Square for The Big Boom! This super-hero themed event was a chance for students to make a positive difference and challenge the stereotype that ‘the youth’ don't care about their city.

Young people from 12 different schools across Leeds will be making a huge positive difference in their schools/communities/city/country/world over the next academic year!

The students were welcomed by Envision Grad extraordinaire Barbara Soetan before splitting up to learn some of the following skills:

Drama: Ice and Fire Theatre Company

Fix the food chain/ how to launch a successful campaign: Friends of the Earth

Accessing decision makers and how they work for you: UK Parliament

Urban Dance: RCJ Dance Company

Spoken word: Leeds Young Authors

Be a social superhero: Envision's very own Sarah Holtam

The day was a massive success - students had a great time learning new skills and getting ready  to make a difference over the next year.
