The Leeds Big Boom
On Friday the 12th of November, over 120 young people from across Leeds descended on The Courtyard in Millennium Square for The Big Boom! This super-hero themed event was a chance for students to make a positive difference and challenge the stereotype that ‘the youth’ don't care about their city.
Young people from 12 different schools across Leeds will be making a huge positive difference in their schools/communities/city/country/world over the next academic year!
The students were welcomed by Envision Grad extraordinaire Barbara Soetan before splitting up to learn some of the following skills:
• Drama: Ice and Fire Theatre Company
• Fix the food chain/ how to launch a successful campaign: Friends of the Earth
• Accessing decision makers and how they work for you: UK Parliament
• Urban Dance: RCJ Dance Company
• Spoken word: Leeds Young Authors
• Be a social superhero: Envision's very own Sarah Holtam
The day was a massive success - students had a great time learning new skills and getting ready to make a difference over the next year.
