The Warm Up 2010
Envision London kicked off the new school year with 240 young people at City Hall on the South Bank, aiming to produce a whole generation of London Leaders who will change their communities for the better.
As students arrived they had the chance to check out a whole range of last year's Envision projects and meet experts from 15 different organisations already making a difference in London.
To formally open the show, everyone met in a packed Council Chamber to hear from:
* Patrick Feehily, Sustainable Development Manager for the Greater London Authority
* Pamela Chesters, Mayoral Advisor on Health and Youth Opportunities
* Karen Lawrence, Director of Delivery at the Energy Saving Trust and a London Sustainable Development Commissioner
* Faye Whaley, Councillor for Canonbury and England's youngest councillor!
From there everyone split up to learn skills that will help them run their projects and make London a greener, safer and better place to live - public speaking, budgeting, green thinking and using film. Big thanks to Otesha, MTV, TfL, Guardian journalist Rowenna Davis, MyBnk and Positive Comedy!
The event closed with a huge drumming and body percussion performance led by Drum Jam which really raised the roof and showed that young people working together can produce a huge amount of energy.
