Envision@10
Hundreds of young people descended on the Emirates Stadium on the 16th July to join a massive celebration of the amazing things young people have achieved this year, and over the last 10 years.
As well as having a go at tightrope walking and juggling, guests added birthday wishes to our present, had a look at an Envision-inspried art exhibition and signed up to be Envision Grads, working with us beyond Year 12 and into the future.
Teams were also presented with awards under ten categories, recognising the huge variety of projects that teams have tackled in the last year. The winners were:

The Local Campaigners: King Edward VI Handsworth Girls', Birmingham Crime and gangs was an important issue to the girls at KEHG. With support and advice from local knife crime organisation ‘Young Disciples’ the team designed a presentation that they delivered to ex-offenders at the North Smethwick Resource Centre. |

The Global Campaigners: Plantsbrook School, Birmingham After hearing about the earthquake in Haiti the team decided to focus their efforts on raising money for aid supplies by holding a Pyjama Disco for year 7 students. The event raised over £150 for the Red Cross. |

The Writers or Journalists: Grey Coats Hospital School - DRUGS Team, London They felt young people are under a lot of peer pressure to take drugs and wanted to challenge the misconception that you can’t have fun without drugs. With the help of Burberry, the team set about creating a documentary style film to raise awareness of the dangers of drug use. |

The Volunteers: La Retraite RC Girls' School, London This team decided to focus on Sickle Cell Anaemia because it was an issue that they related to and felt was overlooked. Working with Croydon Sickle Cell Support group they provided volunteer support at their Christmas party for children who suffered or whose parents suffered from sickle cell anaemia. |

The Sportspersons: King Edward VI Aston Boys', Birmingham Students from KEA were concerned about the issue of homelessness and decided to hold a PS3 FIFA tournament to raise money for a local homelessness charity. The team also volunteered for a soup kitchen to directly support homeless people. |

The Educators: Great Barr School, Birmingham This team were concerned about the rising number of teenage pregnancies and felt that this was due to inadequate information about sexual health available to young girls. Working with a Young People’s Health Advisor from Birmingham PCT their designed a sexual health workshop which they delivered to 80 Year 10 students. |

The Entrepreneurs: Crawshaw School, Leeds Homelessness was also a concern to students in Leeds prompting them to hold a series of events and fundraisers for local homelessness charity St George’s Crypt. At Christmas they organised donations of food, clothes and presents to be delivered to a homeless shelter, and they hosted a bun sale that raised over £170. |

The Community Heroes: Broomfield School EnSpire Team, London The Broomfield school team wanted to address the issue of gun and knife crime by hosting a community event. Local MP David Burrowes officially opened the event which featured performances by rapper Swiftknight, Pineapple Dance, speeches from ex-offenders, funeral directors, and SOS Gangs Project. |

The Performers: Burntwood School Who Are You? Team, London The ‘Who Are You?’ team from Burntwood School hosted a special version of ‘Blind Date’ to highlight cultural differences and invited local MP Sadiq Khan to deliver a speech. They also hosted a culture night at the Memon Centre in Balham which featured acts including a tabla drummer, bhangra dancers and Burntwood’s very own comedy act F&&Z! |

Plus: NATIONAL TEAM OF THE YEAR: Woodhouse College Cre8 Team, London The Cre8 team set out to brighten up Londoners' days with a whole host of creative ideas. They gave out high fives at tube stations, instigated impromptu conga lines around London and painted park benches in bright colours. Their exploits have brought many a smile to a London face. |
