The Envision programme enables young people to realise their capacity to make a difference |
| "Envision gave me the confidence to make a difference and change the unchangeable" |
| Vivianna, Envision Team Member, aged 17, Maria Fidelis School |
| How? |
| Envision supports a key age-group, 16-19 year olds in schools and colleges, to develop their own social and environmental projects. The programme is active citizenship and by achieving change, the young people realise that they can make a positive difference and inspire others in the process.
|
| Following an interactive presentation, between 10 and 15 young people in each school/college establish teams to devise and implement a huge range of inspirational projects over the year.
|
| “The next generation has the ability to lead by example in transforming our communities. Envision’s approach of empowering young people to make a difference in issues they care about is clearly effective." |
| Fiona Mactaggart MP, Home Office Minister |
| Support |
| Each team is supported in its activities by two Envision Youth Educators (EYEs) - dynamic volunteers from the local community (business, universities, community and non-governmental organisations), and the Envision Co-ordination team. Becoming an EYE. |
| ""Sixth former volunteering and participation has been transformed in this school by Envision. Students now see the wider picture behind the concern they are giving their time to help."
|
| Martin Garman, Deputy Head of 6th, South Camden Community School |
| Examples of Projects |
...recycled fashion show, tackling disaffected youth, education of younger years, hospital visits, green spaces, drug awareness, healthy & ethical food days, homelessness collections, street crime wardens, video documentaries, solar power, Fairtrade... More detailed project examples. |
| "The students feel good about themselves because they are trying to do something."
|
| Toni Loveday, Envision Support Teacher, Archbishop Michael Ramsey Technical College |
| Envision Network |
| In only six years, Envision has expanded from five to over 100 diverse schools and colleges across Greater London, Birmingham and beyond. A community of around 1500 young people are involved in making a difference and leading by example in their own communities. |
| "This is an excellent programme as it involves the students taking responsibility." |
| Sue Weston, Envision Support Teacher, Head of Sixth, St Saviours St Olaves |
