Envision offers workshops for PGCE Citizenship and Citizenship Certificate courses covering the following elements:
-
Citizenship: Community Involvement Theory
How can citizenship be implemented across the curriculum, school culture and community through a whole school approach?
Exploring models of experiential learning and sharing our facilitation techniques and engagement methods, we look at how citizenship can be integrated into a school or college environment.
-
Information sharing - youth volunteering connects with citizenship
Identifying existing school and college based community involvement activities, we suggest changes that can be made to these activities to expand the citizenship learning. We look at how the activities integrate with the key concepts for study laid out in the new citizenship curriculum.
-
Working with outside agencies
Envision is an outside agency supporting schools to run community involvement projects. There are numerous other organisations, covering a wide range of different issues, which can work with schools to provide active opportunities. We look at principles for finding and working with outside agencies to maximise learning.
-
Building a community involvement project
To ensure the workshop is as useful as possible for participants – and goes beyond theory into practice – the final component of the workshop will include an interactive process to support participants to build their own community involvement project.

“I enjoyed the practical advice, tools and techniques to use in schools in the future. The workshop was very thought provoking.”
