Education Programmes from Envision

The Envision Schools & Colleges Programme supports 16-19 year olds to develop their own social and environmental projects in their schools, colleges and local communities. It is an extra-curricular social action programme that empowers young people to realise their capacity to make a difference.

Our youth-led approach builds confidence and improves communication and team working skills. Previous projects have tackled issues relating to homelessness, climate change, recycling, fairtrade, poverty, healthy living, bullying and diversity.

How does the programme run?

Envision delivers interactive presentations to students at schools and colleges during September and October each year. All students who are interested by what they see are invited to form an Envision team. This team designs a plan of action aimed at local or global issues of relevance to them, before undertaking a practical project over the first two terms of the academic year. On completion, each Envision team member and participating school/college receives an award.

The entire process is facilitated by weekly hands-on support, provided by trained and police-checked Envision adult volunteers who support the students through the process, leaving teaching staff unburdened.  We do require a contact teacher to be able to check-in with the Envision Co-ordination Team throughout the year. The programme also encourages communication and the sharing of best practice between participating schools and colleges through an interactive website and regular cross-team events.

“The Envision programme helps our students to become better citizens. It helps them to gain first-hand experience of some of the problems and issues in their immediate area and then encourages and empowers them to do something positive to help.”
