Case Study: Pitch 4 Change

Pitch 4 Change offers teams of young people aged 16 - 18 the opportunity to pitch their project ideas to a panel of business leaders for the chance of winning up to £500 to fund the development of their project. The teams that take part in Pitch 4 Change are selected for their innovative ideas for sustainable living and for the positive impact that their projects will have on their schools or local communities.
We work with a number of companies, who have all sponsored the Pitch 4 Change Programme including Clifford Chance, Morgan Stanley, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Legal & General. To help students prepare for their pitch each team is matched with mentors from these business sponsors who help them prepare engaging presentations to deliver to the business ‘dragons’. Young people benefit from gaining funding to get their project off the ground as well as developing professional skills through the mentoring partnership.
"Pitch 4 Change for me is a highly creative, highly engaging, very effective programme for creating experiences and change on both sides of community and coporations. I would recommend to any major corporation to get involved with a programme like this." -Matt Ostrower, Managing Director, Research Division, Morgan Stanley
Case Study: The Co-operative Foundation and the Truth about Youth
Envision is one of The Co-operative Foundation’s official charity partners for the national Truth about Youth campaign. Since 2009 we have worked with the Co-operative to develop the campaign which is part of their Inspiring Young People commitment to challenging the negative stereotypes of young people. The project has since extended to a national initiative paving the way for other organisations to be involved including the Young Scot and Princes Trust. Using our social actions to demonstrate how young people are tackling the negative perceptions of young people, we have used a range of communication mechanisms from street marketing to conference speaker’s platforms to tell the Truth about Youth.
Case Study: Clifford Chance & the Clapton Girls Mural
Mentors from global law firm Clifford Chance helped the team from Clapton Girls Technology College turn their artistic ideas to brighten up Hackney into the reality of a huge mural painted in the heart of the Borough. Through a series of mentoring sessions led by Clifford Chance the team’s ideas were shaped into an impressive business plan which they delivered to a panel of 'dragons' at Pitch 4 Change in December. They were awarded £500 and with this initial funding they succeeded in matching it with an O2 grant and community funding which enabled them to produce an amazing 20 foot mural painted across the wall of a local special needs school, Downsview in Downs Road, Hackney.
Case Study: EDF Energy and Legacy Champions
We also offer bespoke programmes to our corporate partners through the development of our relationship and a set of mutual objectives. The partnership we have with EDF Energy provides an example of this; in 2007, Envision teamed up with EDF Energy on one –off sustainability challenges involving young people & EDF employees as part of the company’s annual Green Britain Day. Following the success of these events EDF Energy became a sponsor of the Envision programme with over 30 employees mentoring Envision teams over the next year. In 2010, pleased with the outcomes of the projects and the feedback from their staff, they asked us to develop a bespoke programme for 10 East London Colleges, the aim to inspire young people to create change in their communities in the run up to the Olympics. This is the Legacy Champions, a three year programme running until 2013.

EDF Energy and Envision supported a team of ten young people in Waltham Forest to create a lasting legacy in their community by helping people to make more sustainable choices and reduce their environmental impact. Working closely with the Sustainability Team at EDF, the team planned and coordinated a series of stalls and an ethical fashion show, which was held as part of the Waltham Forest Police annual Fair. With over 2000 members of the community attending, the team gave out freebies on saving water and showed them how to look good with less waste by showcasing their handmade recycled fashion designs.
“As London 2012’s first sustainability partner, EDF Energy is committed to helping with environmental and social issues by taking action and bringing the best out of people, which is exactly what Legacy Champions is designed to do." -Pierre Anson-Tsang, Programme Manager, EDF Energy
