Meet the Team

We are fortunate at Envision to have an amazing team of committed, talented and enthusiastic staff.  Here is a brief introduction to the team:

Jennie Butterworth

Following a career in the private sector Jennie has spent the past 14 years working in the youth sector holding senior management roles in a range of external affairs functions including income generation, communications and policy.  She has input into many government working groups and was called upon by David Cameron during his leadership campaign to advise on the setting up of the National Citizenship Service.

Phillip Kerry

A former Mathematics teacher Phillip has been with the organisation for over three years. He has been working with young people for almost ten years in formal and informal education settings including work with youth offenders, children with emotional and behavioural difficulties and a two year stint working in Eritrea with VSO as a teacher and trainer.

As well as his role looking after Envision’s finances, human resources and governance, Phil looks after our consultancy work which has seen him provide training and delivering talks for a wide variety of businesses and public sector bodies and non-governmental organisations

Emma Bird
Communications and Policy Manager

Emma joined Envision 2 years ago to lead on building up our communication activity. With over 12 years experience working in communications Emma brings a wealth of expertise in managing networks, developing digital channels and delivering successful promotional campaigns.

Her previous roles have included working in higher education to increase wider participation, supporting social enterprise start ups and young entrepreneurs, campaigning for better services for the homeless and leading the communication activity for the national secretariat of the Regional Assemblies.

 

Laura Hampson
Corporate Partnerships  Manager

Laura oversees our corporate partnerships, developing and managing projects to deliver benefits for business, as well as young people and their communities.

Laura joined Envision from a CSR consultancy where her clients included companies such as Prudential, Friends Life and Roche Products. She has experience across all aspects of CSR, with a particular interest in employee engagement. Laura also understands the practicalities of working for a charity, having delivered projects to support long-term unemployed young people back into work.

Andrew Ridge
Envision Partnerships Manager

Andrew is currently on a part-time two-year secondment with The Co-operative Foundation where he manages the seven charities across the UK who are delivering the Truth about Youth programme. Andrew still works one-day a week for Envision, advising us on CSR and helping us to build new partnerships.

Lizzie Monks

Lizzie manages our employee engagement programmes, including Pitch4Change, ensuring that everyone has a rewarding experience. Having previously volunteered for Envision, whilst working for a another employer, she is well placed to answer any questions about becoming a corporate volunteer.

Lizzie previously worked  as a corporate events manager, with a client list including Deloitte, Morgan Stanley and Ernst & Young, and she utilises this experience in organising corporate events at Envision.

Zoë Fishel
Development Officer

She helps ensure our work remains relevant to the needs of young people and wider society.  With a passion for social policy, she is responsible for research, but her background in hands-on programme delivery makes her well placed to link policy and practice. She keeps us all on track, ensuring our creativity and innovation clearly sits within a framework which links needs to outcomes.  Zoe also leads on our work with trusts and foundations, developing proposals which reflect specific areas of interest and enabling donors to understand the impact of their support.

Kat Baird
Fundraising and Events Coordinator

Kat works on two strands of the Envision project. As the small grants fundraiser, she looks for funds to help school groups run their projects and also to help Envision continue its work. She also helps organise Envision London’s exciting annual events. Recently moved to London, she is looking forward to getting to know all the hidden gems of this amazing city.

The Birmingham Team

Cameron Nimmo

Cameron manages the Birmingham Team and oversees all of Envision’s activities across the city which include our schools and colleges programme, large scale events, developing new partnerships and spreading the word about the inspiring young people we work with.

Cam loves inspiring the Brum team to have the biggest impact in the city as possible, putting on great events for young people and meeting new people. Get in touch with him for anything regarding Envision in Birmingham.

Outside of Envision, Cam’s passions lie with football and music.

Darshna Solanki
Programmes Manager - Birmingham

Darshna oversees the programme delivery in Birmingham and liaises with all the schools and colleges. She is also responsible for recruiting, training and developing Birmingham’s lovely volunteers.

She is looking forward to the year ahead seeing students develop their skills and making a real difference in their communities.

Anneka Deva

Anneka is responsible for developing a leadership programme for all of the young people who graduate from Envision’s programmes in Birmingham.  Passionate about getting the youth voice heard, Anneka is always on the lookout for ways that young people can develop their skills and continue making a difference.

As well as this, Anneka supports on Envision’s events, giving the people of Birmingham first-hand experience of the amazing things young people do in their city.

When she’s not at Envision, Anneka can be found life-drawing, watching a TED talk, or exploring Brum’s many cafes, galleries and gig venues.
 

 

Emma Jarvis

Emma supports teams in 7 schools across Birmingham to run youth led projects on issues they care about.  Emma took part in the Envision programme whilst in sixth form and has been involved ever since including sitting on Envision's Trustee Board for 2 years, so she has a few ideas up her sleeve to help her teams to create amazing projects!

As well as supporting teams, Emma is interested in raising the profile of Envision Birmingham online through blogs and Twitter to get the word out there about the fantastic things our young people are up to.

Outside Envision Emma has been campaigning with Oxfam for the past 3 years and has just joined the Birmingham Friends of The Earth group.

 

Tim Knappett

Tim is responsible for delivering our schools programme to young people right across Birmingham. He will be working in around 8 schools and colleges, helping to develop exciting, creative and informed projects that will have a positive impact upon their communities.

Having set up and run a football coaching academy last summer, he knows how to make sessions lively, fun and engaging and is hoping to take this to his school teams. 

Away from Envision he can be found on a court, a pitch or wandering around cities admiring the sites.

The Bristol Team

Gemma manages the Bristol team and is responsible for overseeing all the wonderful things that Envision gets up to across the city, be it our schools programme, events, developing new partnerships or fundraising.

Gemma's known for being super organised person and loves nothing more than a clear inbox and a full diary! Outside of Envision Gemma loves the outdoors or anything sport related especially netball.

  Rebecca Simms

Rebecca is supporting Gemma to set up the new Bristol Office, organising delivery of the Envision Schools and Colleges programme and helping Envision become a household name.

On top of this she is responsible for recruiting and training volunteers in Bristol and supporting them throughout their whole Envision experience. She is looking forward to another great year in the Bristol office!

Outside of work you’ll find her involved in anything Latin: Capoeira, Salsa, Spanish, Samba...
 

Andrew McCarthy

Andrew delivers the Envision school programme in several schools across Bristol. Over the past few years he has gained lots of experience running workshops, organising events and setting up a volunteer-run ESOL class for refugees and asylum seekers in Manchester. He uses this experience to help organise the cross team events throughout the year, as well as helping Rebecca train and coordinate Bristol’s brilliant team of volunteers.

When he’s not boring his friends by banging on about environmental politics or rights for asylum seekers, Andrew tends to be either riding his bike, cooking food or reading a book. If he isn’t doing any of these, he’s probably at a festival!

The Leeds Team

Katherine leads on the delivery of Envision’s work in Leeds, and especially making sure our work with young people spills into whole schools, neighbourhoods, the business community and to decision makers. Laurie is responsible for recruiting and training adult volunteers in Leeds. She also makes sure that young people have a great Envision experience. When not working, Laurie likes going hiking and travelling all around Europe.
 

Daisy Robson

Daisy supports young people in Leeds in developing their fantastic projects helping them turn their innovative and creative ideas for social action into reality. Daisy has some great experience working with young people and she’s really looking forward to putting it into practice with the Envision teams this year.

A relative newcomer to Leeds, Daisy spends her free time exploring (*cough* getting lost *cough*) in beautiful Yorkshire.

 The London Team

Patrick Taylor
Programme Manager - London

Patrick manages our delivery work in London and the South East; this covers a range of educational and community programmes for 11-19 year olds, as well as training for professionals who work with young people.

He is also responsible the development of new programmes and partnerships that cut across the public, private and third sectors.

Patrick loves cooking up new ideas to achieve our mission and improve the lives of young people, so if you’re interested in working with Envision, then he would love to hear from you.

 

Julia Stevens

Julia works in the London delivery team and is responsible for leading Envisions work with hard to reach groups; this includes young people with special educational needs, foundation stage learners and young people who have English as a second language.

She is also responsible for recruiting training and supporting London’s network of lovely volunteers. If you would like to find out more about the different types of volunteering experiences we offer then get in touch with her.

 

Clare Walden

Clare is responsible for supporting teams of young people from schools and colleges to run amazing Envision projects. She'll be travelling across the London boroughs throughout the academic year faciliating the teams as they deliver their social action projects.

Clare has some great experience creating fun and exciting campaigns which she's looking forward to sharing this year.

Her proudest achievement is crossing the Sahara in a fruit truck but this year you'll be more likely to find her at a festival or gig

 

Lydia Parnell

Lydia is responsible for facilitating the projects run by our young people all across London.  This year she'll be working with around 10 schools helping the teams to create innovative and exciting projects that will tackle issues that young people feel passionate about.

She has an MA in Development Management and loads of experience working with young people in a wide range of roles, including working for BROOK and the IOE. This means she can draw from a wealth of ideas and experience when supporting our young people; making sure that every project is a huge success.

Her proudest achievement was raising and investing £2000 in a rural Kenyan school.
