Ruby is passionate about making the world better. Her social action journey started before university, when she took part in a 6-month volunteering project for 18-25 year-olds based in Mpumalanga, South Africa, and Swansea. The project focused on HIV and sexual health, cultural exchange, and developing active global citizenship.

Fascinated by international development, Ruby completed a degree in Development Economics, and she continued her studies with a Masters in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance.

In 2011, she took part in the pilot of International Citizen Service, spending 3 months volunteering in Uganda with a small organisation providing support to local schools and community groups. She set up a youth division of this, with youth volunteers offering advice and resources to local youth people.

Back in the UK, Ruby became a Senior Mentor for National Citizen Service with The Challenge. She completed three summers and six programmes with them altogether, supporting young people as they design and deliver community projects.

I love the flexibility of Envision projects and the real freedom given to young people to think about the change they want to make. I look forward to being part of that change for young people in London and their communities!"
