Youth Participation

Envision’s Commitment to Youth Participation

As well as empowering young people to take lead roles in their communities, Envision gives young people central roles in the running of the organisation itself. In doing so, we:

  • Provide young people with valuable experiences and skills to prepare them for the future.
  • Improve the quality of our services – we are better able to address the needs of young people if we work together to shape Envision’s future.
  • Recognise and promote the right of children and young people to express their views freely in all matters affecting them, as promised in Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Opportunities to participate at Envision

Training and Consultancy

As an exemplar project of the Cabinet Office’s Goldstar programme, Envision is recognised for best practice in engaging and empowering young volunteers. Check out our consultancy page to find out more about how we can help your organisation to engage and work with young people.

Case Study: Wumi

Envision Grad Wumi has stayed involved with Envision in loads of different ways. He has helped us interview and recruit new staff, represented us at a knife crime conference (an issue close to his heart), and in 2008 he designed the publicity material for London's Warm Up event. Wumi explains,

Wumi: Working with Envision
"I was given a design brief, freedom and advanced notice of the project so that I could plan beforehand, as well as with staff in the office. I got to decide the whole style of the flyer, taking into account Envision’s brand guidelines. I could have done it at home but I’d rather come into the office – there’s a good vibe going on."
